OBOW Light Travel Forum > Slip-N-Snip scissors

Slip-N-Snip folding scissors come in three varieties, depending on handle size, and especially, the type of point, the original or Standard, also Needlepoint. At $5 or so, these are one of the handier utility gadgets one could pack.

But, I find the TSA guidelines a bit confusiong. My wife says she wouldn't take our pair, save in a checked bag. My reading is that they would be OK in a carry-on bag. Has anyone with a pair had them confisticated by either TSA, or airport security overseas?

Alan, I've been mentioning the Slip-N-Snps for a long time. I ahve carried the standard size, smaller of the sizes for years in my carry-on. They have gon in my small metal pieces bag or in my toilet kit. They have not ever been scrutinized. I am ordering 8 more pairs as I speak from Smokey Mountain Knife works. You may want to refer to my posts on the Short Trip To Mexico.

I bring my ordinary nail scissors in a little leather pouch EVERY time. Have not had them questioned a single time. I also bring a print out of the TSA rules saying that scissors up to 4 inches, even pointy metal, are ok. But I've never had to argue for that.

Thanks. I'm adding the Slip-N-Snips to my carry-on packing list. They clearly are better than any of the scissors in various mini-tools, most of which, alas, have a BLADE, which is clearly verboten.
