The part about lighter shoes caught my attention. I just can't seem to find the perfect, non-business, casual travel shoes. Currently, I wear sneakers. I wish there was something better. Too bad the article didn't give any specific examples.

Alan - if you go through the posts right before it, there's a post about the Ecco Biom

They have a category for travel shoe reviews

@Alan I think that the best travel shoes by far are fivefingers.

I got a pair of Ecco Bioms about a month ago based on that practicaltravelgear article. I really love them! They can serve in a pinch as a pair of casual shoes (I got the brown leather ones) and they have a nice, grippy athletic sole. They are really light and non-bulky (no big wedge like a running shoe) and I plan to use them both as a primary shoe for fair-weather vaca travel and as a lightweight second shoe when I just MUST have a pair of business paw-covers on the trip. They fit extremely well in the side compartment of my Aeronaut and there's enough room left in there for a few bits of other gear as well.
