OBOW Light Travel Forum > Headed to Fort Worth

I am headed to Ft. Worth, Texas this weekend for a conference. I fly in Friday, attending the conference Friday evening and all day Saturday, then flying home Sunday morning fairly early. I think I've got my wardrobe list down to the bare minimum! I'll wear the same jeggings and boots on the plane ride home just with a different shirt. Wearing the dress and leggings Saturday and bringing the cardigan because supposedly the room the conference is in can get chilly. I'll be at the conference from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and this outfit looks good, but is also super comfy. I'm always hot at night and sharing a room hence the shorts and tank for sleeping. I know hotels usually provide lotion and shampoo, but most of that stuff is heavily scented and makes me break out. It is easy to bring my own and not worry.

On Plane:
Boots (easy to get on and off)
Jeggings (super comfy)
LS shirt
tank
socks
undies and bra

In bag:
black leggings (for Sat.)
black & white dress (for Sat.)
black cardigan
sleep shorts and tank
2 pairs undies
bra
2 pairs socks
LS shirt (plane ride home)
tank (plane ride home)

Toiletries:
toothbrush
hairbrush
deodorant
makeup (powder, concealer, eye shadow, mascara, lip gloss)
face soap
mini first aid kit
contacts case
couple of hair bands

3-1-1 bag:
contact solution
toothpaste
hair product (decanted to tiny pot)
face moisturizer
lotion
shampoo

Playing around with what bag I'm going to take. Obviously all of this will fit in one bag no problem. I've got a letter size notebook that I have to take with me as well as things like wallet, cell phone, and my Nook. Going to play around with different bag arrangements so I can take the smallest set up possible. I'll need something to carry my stuff around Saturday during the day, but I've got a few different tote bag options that would easily fold up tiny and fit in my one bag. I may try to stuff it all in my old Eddie Bauer back pack which would be awesome.

I have to say thanks to Frank and all of you guys for teaching me that you don't have to pack for every what-if. And for teaching me the value of packing lists that have helped me become a much more organized packer. I am still amazed at how little I pack these days. Even the BF commented on our last trip that it didn't seem like I had packed as many rocks! :)

You're probably going to be surprised with what I'm going to say, but, bring an extra shirt along. Why? It's inevitable, just when you think you packed only what you need, someone is going to spill something on an article of clothing and you won't have anything to change into. (Or if your shirts are quick drying, you could just rinse one out and hag to dry.)

Other than that.....great work. And don't forget the chargers for the electronic devices.

I have to pack an extra top.......I'm a messy bugger and will invariably spill something on me. I take a mini Tide-To-Go Pen, perfect for quickly removing stains, as do Shout wipes.

I'll throw in an extra shirt for Friday night maybe. For Saturday, even if I spill something on my dress, I'm kind of screwed. Will be at the convention center from 9 am til 9 pm on a serious time schedule. And yes, bringing phone charger for sure, just forgot to write it. The nook will last for the two plane rides so no real need although I might just throw it in anyway. Paula, I think I've got a Tide pen laying around. Good idea to bring it.
Former Pres. G.W. Bush is speaking Saturday morning and they just informed us that they are limiting what we can bring into the building while he is there. Have to rethink what day bag I was going to bring now since it has to be small.

Great list! A few comments...
1. Mascara and lip GLOSS count as liquids (chapstick does not) so make sure you put them in the right bag.

2. The cardigan could go with you on the plane, it can still get chilly on those as well and it will then take up less room.

3. I would suggest bringing a black scarf, it would be easy to take on Saturday and if you spill something or feel chilly or want to change the outfit up, you can wrap that around you easier than changing entirely.

4. I agree that another shirt would be better - a button down perhaps, to be more businesslike for Friday evening.

5. For a day bag, what about looking at something that turns into a messenger bag/tote bag from a folded bag, in black or grey (like this: http://www.chicobag.com/product/messenger10-repete-black or even this or this: http://www.chicobag.com/product/sling-repete-limestone or http://www.chicobag.com/product/vita-timeless-daisy-chain)

Great job though, super casual conference it sounds like and easy to pack for! I do suggest one medium sized packing cube, that'll hold everything except the 311 and such little stuff - a gallon sized ziplock would keep that together and all of it would fit into a backpack really easily, perhaps even a larger hobo bag or purse...

Everything is in a couple of packing cubes and all loaded in the ebags Motherlode TLS. Not heavy at all. I used the Tom Bihn Packing Cube Shoulder Bag as one of my packing cubes so I can use that as a day bag possibly. I've also got a tote bag that rolls up smaller than a tennis ball (a lot like that 3rd link Megan!) in case I need something any bigger. Good thing too because I sprained my foot last night running and will now be maneuvering through the airport on crutches! All the more reason to one bag it. :) Definitely getting to the airport a little earlier than originally planned and hoping they'll wheel me around. Or at least let me ride that golf cart thing!
