OBOW Light Travel Forum > Osprey Ozone Courier Bag

I took a long and careful look at the Osprey Ozone Courier Bag, $89, yesterday, at my local REI. I probably will defer buying one at this time, in favor of the Tom Bihn Co-Pilot discussed elsewhere, due to the OOCB being too large as a "personal bag" for what I need for my next long trip, which includes extensive touring by bus, but surely there might be others who would find ithe OOCB meets their particular needs.

At 16 x 13 x 7, the OOCB should fit beneath virtually any airline seat, but it would not necessarily leave footspace, important to me given my long legs....and the several long legs of the flight. For many it might suffice even as an overnight bag. Compared to other messenger bags, closures are all zips, no buckles or flaps, though there is a pair of buckled compressor straps. The interior includes a lightly padded zipped section that should easily hold an iPad, perhaps even a small laptop or Chromebook. The outside pocket has multiple compartments for various mall items. Either end has an elastic water bottle holder.

This is a rather lightweight bag, that weighs about as much as the Tom Bihn Co-Pilot in ballistic, but with at least twice the volume. It does have somewhat heavier fabric on its bottom. Clearly it is meant to be used mainly as a cross-body bag. It has a decent handle as well. The back has a loop that comes up to allow the bag to be carried over the handle of a roller bag, or at least a double pole handle, though oddly the matching Osprey roller bags has a single strut handle. As far as being fitted inside a larger carry-on, really the OOCB is a bit too formed and bulky for that; a better choice for that role would be a Tom Bihn Medium Cafe Bag or the like. Beyond that I still have my REI Stratocruiser Carry-On Bag, a bit smaller than the OOCB, that can fill a similar role.

Incidentally, while I have been using the Tom Bihn Ristretto for a while now, I think I could have done almost as well by just getting a Cache to fit inside the TBMCB mentioned above.
