More backpack than suitcase. Backpack strap retension system, rather than pocket/sleet. No shoulder strap attachment points. Minimal design and looks. Made in the USA. A bit pricey.

I have an Ignoble bag, yes they are pricey, but they will offer discounts occasionally. It's a very small operation, but they are more than willing to answer emailed questions (and quickly). Lightweight bags, but well made, and yes, made in the US. I really like their spare, modern aesthetic which isn't too hard core or military, and discrete logo. I think they'll appeal more to someone who wants a backpack, but they also have the lenore capsule bag http://www.ignoblebags.com/lenore.html which works as a duffel.
