OBOW Light Travel Forum > Non-metalic belt?

I bought a non-metallic belt and used it for several trips but the last couple trips I had to go through the nude-o-scope and had to remove it anyway. Is it worthwhile to try to wear it for travel now? If I have to remove it anyway, is there any advantage to it?

I think you should ask yourself, do I like this belt enough to wear it every day?
Does it have a hidden money pocket on the inside? That could be your deal breaker using it for your travels.

I know several people who invested in them and all have had to remove them for airport security, which defeats the purpose. I was looking at ones sold by Magellans but decided against buying one after I heard TSA and their global counterparts insist on all belts being removed.......I might as well wear my favourite belt, metal buckle, grommets and all.

Its very hit and miss at airports, and isn't ideal for nicer business wear

I've had to go through metal detectors when entering various government buildings/offices. It might be useful for that but is not going to help at airports. I would certainly want one that was attractive enough to replace a regular dress belt. Otherwise I'd prefer to put up with the inconvenience.

I guess it isn't practical anymore. When I first began using it, there was only the metal detector at security and the belt could be worn all the time. Now it looks like those days are over. I'll just wear my regular belt and prepare to remove it. Thanks for the replies.
