OBOW Light Travel Forum > Good travel T-shirt

I recently bought 3 of the Under Armor brand of t-shirts. They are very similar to the Ex Officio T's, but they are all man-made material. I think maybe the EO are a portion cotton (but can't remember for sure).

Anyway, the Under Armor T's are the fake cotton. They feel soft but you can still tell they are synthetic. I like them so far. Wore one jogging yesterday and it dried in a flash. They have lots of colors, and also V-necks in ladies style. I only saw crew neck for the guys. I bought some at the Under Armor outlet at a local outlet mall, and they were $14,99 each. Also I was in Oshman's (Sports Authority) the other day and they had more colors, but I think they were also a little more expensive ($19.99).

To me these are a good alternative to the Ex Officio, a little cheaper, and they come in more colors. I still like the EO best I think but these are also good multi taskers. When on the road I like to use them for both an under shirt and for work outs. The only drawback to me is that the logo is much more prominent than Ex Officio's, but that's not a deal breaker as it's still not too garish.

Also, I only saw short sleeves. I would have liked to get a long sleeve as my two C9's of similar material are getting a little old and Target don't seem to carry that style any more.

PS- I also bought 3 of these a couple of months ago. Don't think I mentioned it. I like that this company has made in USA, and many colors, as well as low prices.

I bought a pink, a brown, and a grey one. I like them very much. Shipping was quick. Next I will try one or two of the long sleeve T-shirts.

To date, I've only bought Tilley CoolMax branded T-shirts from Tilley Endurables. Nice colours, good weight, nice fit. A bit pricey, but for me, well worth it. One advantage of Tilley clothes is that they don't have large logos on them.

One other thing I've done is just to buy DriFit (Nike) or similar athletic T-shirts from sporting good stores if I know I want something to layer underneath. They're usually thinner, wash and dry very fast, and I can use them for working out as well.

Being a very long time high altitude climber, I've got many types of baselayers and Tees in my closet and those that I've thrown away from use or non-function.

Two Tees that I would highly recommend for traveling are:

Icebreaker Superfine 140wt. These are the most comfortable, most resilient to smell, wash very easily, though wool even in a micro/superfine fabric does take a smidgen longer to dry than synthetics. I usually buy the black and this is my go-to travel Tee shirt by far, more than any other.

Campmor Visa Endurance Tee: these are incredible shirts, keep the smell way down, dry quickly and are in assorted colors that can mix and match to any wardrobe.

I like the Visa Endurance for aerobic workouts and for wearing around town. The Icebreaker is my choice for just about anything else inc. both workouts and about town.
