OBOW Light Travel Forum > REI Vagabond Travel Pack on clearance for $35

Just wanted to let folks now on here that REI just marked down its Vagabond Travel Pack in the color Atlantic Blue to $34.83 (original price $99) -- http://www.rei.com/product/754680

I just bought this pack a few weeks ago for $70, and it's one of the best 1bag options I've seen in person, was choosing between this and the Osprey Porter 46, but this won out because of its harness/frame system, though I do wish it had a compression system like the Osprey.

Hope some find this useful.. happy traveling.

I just ordered one. Thanks.

It looks to be more pack than suitcase but that almost certainly means it will be infinitely more easy to carry than a "convertbile" (suitcase with backpack straps).

I have one of these, in the same color. It's a great bag, especially for more casual traveling. It holds a ton. If you search Flickr for REI Vagabond, you should be able to see my pictures of what I am able to fit into mine. It was worth it at full price and if you like backpack-type one-bag travel, this is a good one. (One thing, though-- it's just a skosh too long to fit under an airplane seat, but it is great in the overhead bin.)

Brad, you're right on about this being more pack than suitcase and the majority of the weight being due to the harness. The member 'bluesun' wrote a pretty good review and comparison with the Osprey Porter over at the Boots n All Forums: http://boards.bootsnall.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3883000737/m/89800127416

Also possibly of interest, REI has the 40 litre pack cover on sale for $7.83 here: http://www.rei.com/product/738949 I don't own it personally so can't say for certain whether it fits as its length is just a bit shy of the Vagabond's dimensions, but I think it should squeeze in alright.
