OBOW Light Travel Forum > Swiss Army Knife allowed as carry on in Europe?

"SwissTech Utili-key 6-in-1 Tool. It looks like a key and resides among your keys on the key chain."

I have one on my keyring. I didn't have any problems with it at all the security checks, Toronto, Heathrow or Malaga. I used it to cut a couple of plastic ties, a broken finger nail and some stray dangling cotton on my clothes. Very handy little gadget.

Charles DeGaulle specifically had pictures of swiss army knifes listed as prohibited items. This was for Air France/Delta.

I see the Swiss Tech website has a lot of interesting blade-less multi-tools on Clearance as well, in addition to those already mentioned in earlier posts.

Anybody have any good suggestions on what shops/chains in Europe/UK to pick up an inexpensive, 'disposable' knockoff pocket knife or multi-tool for local use only (IE not trying to bring it past airport screening)?

In the UK there are plenty of Army Surplus shops.

Millets are camping / outdoor suppliers......one in every town

Not sure if Poundland does pocket knives or multi-tool, again, they're everywhere and all items are £1 each.

FYI: At Costco today, they are offering (in the tools/outdoor aisle) a five-pack of assorted SwissTech tools in stainless steel, including most of those recommended above.
Price $18 +/- for all five, so less than $4 apiece. I didn't buy one, but they look well made and interesting. Several of the 5 do not have blades, so should be TSA acceptable.
