OBOW Light Travel Forum > Money belt alternative for women
I'm a bad traveler and don't wear a moneybelt because they really don't work on my figure. Men have a much easier time because the spare tire keeps them in place, but my waist is right at the bottom of the ribcage so if I don't tighten it up to sit at my natural waist (where it looks ridiculous and feels awful) it bounces around all day and rides up. I've put my passport in an Aloksak and stuffed it into a sports bra before and it was stiff but fine.
Thanks for the pattern! I'd choose a cheap, thin baggie as the liner, myself. Waterproof fabrics will add some stiffness and the seams will make it a lot less flexible.

As a flat chested chickie, I usually wear bras that are thin and don't actually have a cup. I'm concerned this will look like I've got some messed up padding in my bra.
It's a good thing that I've got enough extra padding that I can wear those under the clothing money belts. This might be the first time I've ever been grateful for the extra padding.

When traveling in not so safe places and backpacking even in Europe, I used a leather pouch with two loops. It looped around my belt and could be stuffed into the trousers easily. This works for mean and women. An A4 sheet folded twice would fit; i.e. more room than just for a passport. I thought this was stupid when my mother offered it to me but it turned out to work really well.
The leather was super soft and I didn't feel it at all. It didn't get sticky, either. Just at one occasion I got so drenched by the rain that my documents got a little wet, too. Putting an aloksak inside such a pouch would be entirely possible and a good solution.
The bra thing is funny. Really romantic method, old school. I like it. I read on FT that some women would take one of those stuffed bras and fill the pouch with valuables instead of the cushions that usually go in there. I think that's smart. Obviously, this is just a back-up solution for the access in public is a bit difficult. Another advantage for my looped belt pouch.

Hi all,
I like the sprigs bangee wrist wallet it is tiny but good. But it is best for autumn/winter when one wears longsleeves.

Won't fit your documents but it can fit about €300!

Like many of you, I am always looking for ways to keep my money safe and for a place to stash my document copies. I really liked the idea of the regular looking belts with the hidden money zipper like the ExOfficio one listed on this site. However, I am not a big belt wearer in my day to day life but was willing to give it a try for safety's sake on my trip next spring. While searching the internet for different styles, I came across this pattern and how to on www.about.com. This is exactly the belt alternative that I was looking for. They only thing I would add is to either include a waterproof lining of some sort, whether it be sewn in or just use a small baggie to avoid sweaty money.
