Backpack straps for Tom Bihn's Flyer
The Tom Bihn Western Flyer - a nifty and versatile less-than-max-sized carryon - is now available with traditional backpack straps. It is still also available in its original mono sling strap configuration. More to come.
I’ll be receiving a WF with backpack straps in a week or two for a hands-on trial. Darcy at TB says the the backpack straps are all new and are very comfortable. My original review of the Western Flyer is here.

Points for portability and function, but not much for fashion. I'll admit though, my standards are high .. I'm in the business! :)
While shopping at Tom Bihn (when the original Western Flyer was in the works before it was even available for pre-order), I was able to try the prototype bag on, and the only killer for me was that sling strap. My first words were 'Wow! Any chance of backpack straps? This sling's a no-go.' I guess I wasn't the only one who didn't like it! NOW I'll get one. I've wanted something smaller than my Air Boss, but bigger than either my Red Oxx Gator or Metro briefcase for overnights, and this bag is it.
I'll have a sample in a few days and will be able to directly compare it to the sling version.
Any word on that WF sling vs. back pack strap comparison??
I'm leaving for Cali in a few days and wonder if it is worth running down to Tom Bihn's factory store to pick on up.
:)
The straps are pretty nice. They seem to work best for a small-framed person.
