Right for the rain
Lots of light travelers like to use the little Moleskine-type pocket notebooks for recording experiences and information when the laptop gets left at home. Here’s another take on the notebook, and an all-weather one at that. The Rite in the Rain products have special waterproof paper that stands up to rain and moisture so you can jot in any clime. The Rite in the Rain website has a bewildering array of notebooks and even waterproof copy paper.

These notebooks are great. However, don't try to use a Fisher Space Pen with one. For some reason, the Space Pen ink won't adhere to the pages, and it smears. All my sketches from one hiking trip were lost.
Odd! A pen for writing anywhere, on anything, and it won't work on this particular brand of waterproof paper. I now use one of the 'check safe' gel pens, or the trusty standby of a simple ol' pencil.
I've used this paper to map caves for over 20 years. It is pretty rugged. My two big pet peeves are 1) A number 2 pencil tends to smear and 2) If you erase the pencil, it will also smear and leave dark smudges. If you try to erase hard enough to get rid of all the smduges then you can wear through the coating on the paper.
That said, it resists damp very well. It even can be dripped on! It is a little thicker and heavier than "normal" paper.
You can get the books bound or loose leaf to fit in a tiny binder.
