Saving space in the 3-1-1 bag

Travelon also makes a powdered toothpaste that is basically just calcium carbonate. I thought it tasted awful and my teeth didn't feel clean.

I've never had a problem conforming to the 3-1-1 rules as far as toiletries go and my husband and I often go away for 2-4 weeks. My only problem is with being unable to buy products like wine, jams, liquors to bring back... That really irritates me.

Yeah - that's the bummer. Shipping that stuff is usually not an option either since the post office hates liquids too.

IPSAB, available at Whole Foods tastes a lot better, but the dispenser is awkwardly sized. I use my old Eco-Dent bottle with IPSAB inside.

And, for those who don't know how to use powdered toothpaste "neatly", pour a very little in your palm and rub your wet toothbrush in it.
