Travel-size trouble

I’ve noticed those wire bins full of travel size products at discount stores are a seasonal phenomenon. I’m guessing they are only out or fully-stocked from late spring through summer. That can cause stress when you need your favorite anti-perspirant for a winter trip. There’s always Minimus I guess. Or try some of the excellent suggestions from this recent post.

Both my local Target and Wal Mart carry travel size items all year long. In fact, the selection keeps getting bigger.

My local drugstores, however, seem to be cutting back on them.

CVS drugstores where I live (DC area) stock them year 'round.

Just refill your old travel bottles or buy Nalgene travel bottles for your products. The only products that have to stay in their original packaging are contact lens liquids and anti-bacterial products.

I've always seen the travel toiletries year round at Target. I avoid that section anyway, because they rarely have anything I want. Because I'm vegan, most of their shampoos, conditioners, toothpastes, soaps and deodorant are useless to me. A lot of the toiletries are liquid. That's a hassle I'd rather do without. In addition, the packaging used is too bulky and takes up weight that I'd rather use toward important things.
I prefer to use solid shampoo, deodorant that I can put in a plastic bag, tooth powder, solid conditioner, and solid perfume. IMO, travel is so much easier when I don't have to worry about the 3-1-1 bag.

I did check my Target and they are fully stocked. I finally exhausted the travel-size of my favorite anti-perspirant solid and haven't been able to find it again so I'm thinking of slicing off a chunk and putting it in a small container. My laundry formula requires a couple of liquid containers in the the 3-1-1, otherwise there's not much.
