Nice video review Brad! For me, the big question is... how comfortable is it to use as: 1) A daily bag loaded down and going back and forth to work; and 2) A carry on or "go to" bag for everyday use when traveling?
I'm under the impression that the bag is tough-as-nails, but there's no getting around its weight.
Is there enough room in this for a change of cloths & shaving kit plus computer & associated cords? I am thinking over night bag that doubles as a brief case/computer bag. I consider my self a one-bagger but the dirty little secret is that I always travel with 2 bags: my computer bag and my carry-on bag. I have been working toward 2 goals as I travel: first travel liquid free and second travel as a true one-bagger. I have the former worked out but still struggling with the latter so I am searching for a bag that can do double duty. Tom B has a couple that come close but don't quite work as a business briefcase-computer bag.
Brad, I have the same question as DanH--wondering if this bag could hold everything I'd need for a two-day business trip. It'd be nice to just use this great-looking briefcase for everything.
I haven't had a hands-on with it. I guess the best way is to look at its capacity in cubic inches -
* 14" Medium - 14"w X 11"h X 9"d (regular laptop) Weighs approx. - 6.5 lbs. * 16" Large- 16"w X 12"h X 9"d (average 17" laptop) Weighs approx - 7.5 lbs. * 18" Extra Large- 18"w X 13"h X 9"d Weighs approx. - 8 lbs.
That translates to roughly 1350, 1600, 2100 cubic inches. Most carryons are 1500-2800 cubic inches so these bags are a bit smallish, but heavy. It might depend on your packing method (cubes, folders, roll?) and how slim a laptop sleeve you have. The cases are heavy. Maybe that's the price of beauty and instant street cred. Maybe a hybrid suitcase/briefcase design will someday be forthcoming from Saddleback, espciially if enough onebaggers ask for it. I've been in touch with Saddleback and they will be advertising on OBOW soon.
Couple of observations. The leather looks top notch for its intended purposes - a bag to be used for generations. On the other hand, the styling and design lacks the refinement of the very best European leather luggage manufacturers' products. The website has people carrying these bags in adventure travel scenarios and it still seems a bit odd to see someone carrying a giant leather satchel while riding...uh...a camel. Seems a bit heavy (okay a lot heavy as a carry-on).

Thanks.
It's certainly heavy. I just find myself increasingly tempted by natural fiber.
