Flying petri dishes

A friend of mine recently came back from a trip with the flu. He thinks he caught the bug while flying.

“Lousy airplane air,” he said.

But the air may not be where he got it. Check out this article about the six areas on a plane where you’re more than likely to “catch something:”

6 places germs breed in a plane

I picked up a nasty stomach bug on my flight to London last summer and spent the first afternoon and night being violently ill. It had to be either the rest room or the water - after reading this I'll not ever get coffee OR tea on the plane again. (I thought they boiled the water...but at the lower pressure you get at 30,000 feet I bet the water boils at a lower temperature than 212F, so that wouldn't kill things, maybe.)
