OBOW, the shirt

With apologies to Tom and Ray, an addition to the Shameless Commerce Division:

Dark colors will be added soon. There are some quick-dry microfiber versions but they’re not cheap!

Not bad. I like it. Did you consider putting the "1" in the first "O" and putting a world map/ globe in the second "O"? Semantically and symbolically that would make much more sense, me thinks.

Where are all the pockets?

Just checked that OBOW tee out and had an idea, I'd order a very large men's size and use it for my lounging about in hotel rooms/sleepwear. Nowhere near as expensive as some of the nightwear I've been looking at recently, why should I pay $54 for a nightdress that looks like a tee shirt? Or silk PJs worth $74?
Btw, does anyone else slide off the bed when they wear silk or satin jammies??

Til, I tried it as you described and graphically it was out of balance, too heavy in the middle. I've also toyed with the globe. We're thinking alike. There will be more versions.

I know we think alike, Brad, that's why I was asking. If you tried it out and graphically it didn't work then that's the end of it. Looking forward to seeing what else you are coming up with.

How about one with a pack list printed on it that each user can check off him/herself with a textile marker?

Brad - another wonderful idea! However, if we wear these shirts, does that mean fewer invitations to dinner parties? (Per Monte's line about one-baggers being a select crowd.)

Paula - great idea! I'm going to do that too.

Till and Monte - pockets and a packing list. Brilliant! :)

Till, I just had another idea: "one (bag graphic) one (globe). Believe it or not, I used a font creator program to turn my "running through airports" guy symbol into a font, so I can easily work with it.

For shirts, I've used CafePress and Zazzle. The OBOW shirt is on Zazzle which is generally of higher quality than CafePress.

You obviously know much more than I about these things. The One (bag graphic) One (globe graphic) is what I thought of originally but basically you'd then be matching numbers (1) or letters (O) with symbols. Not sure if you wanted that, that's why I didn't bring it up.

How about making some samples and then make a regular OBOW poll as to which the readers prefer? Then produce that t-shirt. Kevin has recently organized a nice give-away posting where the winner got a bag. So you could have some monthly t-shirt contests or a simple lottery.

I also think white on black would be cool and perhaps either a smaller chest logo (over the heart) or that size logo but on the back. Less obtrusive.

While you are in creative mode, a luggage tag would be nice, too.

Do you suppose the profits from the first batch might be used to advertise them in the SkyMall magazine, that we all read and love. Or don't we want other people to know about us?

I don't think our volume is appropriate for SkyMall.

The shirt is a great idea. Especially darker & micro-fiber ones. I like the idea of an optional, more subtle, shirt (with it placed over the heart). How about a graphic which has the 'running person' overlaid on top of a globe with the words www.1bag1word.com wrapped around the graphic? Or, perhaps OBOW around the top half, and, the website on the bottom. I'm not sure how messy an overlaid graphic would look though. Perhaps the graphic could just have the running person in a circle that has some latitude lines at the top & bottom, that would give the idea of the globe with less 'noise' in it (those are the latitude lines aren't they?). Is that what you meant above when you said "one (bag graphic) one (globe)"?

Ooohh - I 2nd the luggage tag idea, KLH will send you 2 for free with any image printed on one side :)

Here's some more goofy ideas :)
A graphic of a "globe-person" carrying a bag, the body of the person is the globe. There are some really goofy ones here:

I'm not sure how helpful this is, but, here's an interesting picture that I ran across with google, it's basically a picture of a man carrying a suitcase standing on top of the world:

Maybe it will spawn some creative ideas???

That's totally it, guys! A person with one bag running over a globe! Genius! I love it. That is such a cool symbol I could have that big and on the chest. It's the literal globetrotter. How cool is that?

Then put the website address wherever you want, e.g. back or sleeve. The onebagging globetrotter should stand alone and the graphic must be big enough that one can easily tell what it is. Since this is a US site, it would be OK to have the globe US-centered, although among intellectuals this is usually a big issue when maps are concerned.

The logo size and position are customer-adjustable on Zazzle. Dark shirts will be up later today. Other designs in a week or so. Thanks for your suggestions and interest. I'll relate the story of the OBOW logo one day and how it really does have everything to do with travel...

Brad,

I like the shirt, does the girl come with it <BSEG>. Yes I know I'm a typical guy, as my wife reminds me all of the tiem.
Seriously though, have you considered the posibility of a polo type shirt, with the OBOW running guy embroidered over the pocket? I know that the biggest expense in one of those is setting up the graphic, and the first 30-50 shirts pays for it. I'd probably buy at least 2 each in both long and short sleeve to use on my travel days.

Luke, I thought exactly the same thing about the girl. Brad would sell more shirts (at least I suppose so) if we could see the girl's face. Can't be ugly.
