Daily Roundup--November 14, 2011

American Eagle becomes the first airline to be fined under the new tarmac delay regulations. The incident occurred last May 29 during a snowstorm in Chicago. The fine, $900,000.

Hilton is going to start donating all used soap to charity. I thought it sounded weird but apparently the soap is “recycled” and sent to those in need.

BBC Travel has an article on “Five Features To Look For In A Carry-On Bag.” Once again, we non-wheelers get no respect. In fact, this article even encourages “more wheels” as in four instead of two. (Heavy Sigh)

Oh sod the bags, I LOVE the London print on them!!! (But then I would say that, I'm biased). ;-)

I keep reading these things and everytime I get the feeling, people just don't get it.

Well, despite the headline the lede makes it very clear the article is about what to look for in a SPINNER bag. The author wanted a spinner bag and wanted to know how to pick the best one.

The soap thing is way cool.

I tweeted the author of the luggage article letting him know he left out a huge category of non-wheeled bags. HIs response was that his back hurt just thinking about it. But it might be an interesting idea for a future column.

I wonder how his shoulder feels dragging that wheeled bag behind him?

I guess it depends on the type of back problem / injury but last year after several weeks of intense physio on my lower back, I thought my roller would be better for me, I packed it and tested it, it made things worse...even my therapist warned that pulling could hurt more than help. Then I also had to think about the amount of times I would lift that bag.....roller or spinner? Not with a bad back thanks.
