Sleepbox

Have you ever been caught with a few hours between flights? Not enough time to go anywhere yet too much time to just sit in the terminal. Sure, you might try catching 40 winks at some deserted gate but that’s usually not very comfortable.

Soon, you may be able to rent a Sleepbox.

This pod like structure is already in trial in Moscow and getting rave reviews from passengers.

Designed by a Russian architecture firm, the Sleepbox contains a bed, TV, wifi, a laptop desk with recharging plugs, alarm clock and choice of lighting. It can be rented out for anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours.  Each unit is automatically cleaned between users.

I can definitely see this in international transit lounges where most people would prefer not to have to go through immigration and customs to get to a hotel when they are only transiting through the country.

I rented a "Cabin" at the Heathrow Yotel for 10 hours on Thursday night. Very similar product. VERY convenient, right off the Arrivals area in Terminal 4 and 5 minutes from the Heathrow Express station to get to the other terminals. I was up at 5:25 and through the United security by 5:45.

There was a nice lounge in Hong Kong's airport, too (one of my favorites, it's a great place to while away some time). It had nice hotel style showers, beds for rent, and a nicely lit, chill lounge area. We had a 6am arrival time, and I had been suffering some nasty food poisoning that made my plane ride pretty horrible, and the lounge was a godsend.

Anyway, glad to see the mini-airport-hotel concept is continuing to grow!

This looks a lot more portable than the London yotel. Of course, the yotel includes a shower, so that works better for overnight layovers that are too short to warrant a hotel stay.
I wonder if you have to make reservations or if you can go to a kiosk and swipe your card for a room?

WOW! sleepbox is really a necessity for those who travel especially for those who wait for their delayed flight..the video presentation was really nice..the only problem is it has no bathroom.
