Don't need to take out insurance for medical abroad, my work's plan covers that.

My insurance will cover me abroad, but I've bought medical insurance a few times when travelling to third world countries, to cover possible medical evacuation. The times I can remember are when we went to Southeast Asia, as I wasn't sure about the hospitals in Cambodia and Vietnam; and when we went to the Galapagos islands, where there is no hospital. I also got it for my wife when she was pregnant and we went to Europe, although I don't think I got it for myself that time.

Always health ins but not always medical evac ins depending on the country's healthcare system & facilities.
