Website Confusion

I think people are getting confused with the different aspects of this website.

There are two places where readers can post their ideas, opinions, etc.

The first is the blog itself. Like any other website’s blog, the webmaster, editor, or whatever title is given to the person in control, has complete say over what is “said.” It’s his, or her, choice. On this website we also allow you, the reader, to comment. So, as an example, if I choose to only discuss non-wheeled bags, that’s my choice. If I don’t want to discuss wheeled bag, I’m not censoring anyone. It’s my blog I get to choose. (And when I said I would allow discussions of some wheeled bags but now regret it, I was referring to the blog. ) This is like every other blog in the internet.

The other place where you, the reader, can post, is the Reader’s Forum. Here you are basically free to ask questions, respond to other postings, etc, with the only restrictions being that the postings are non-commercial in nature, are free of foul language, and are in what is considered a general civilized tone.  As long as those rules are followed, and can be found in the “Posting Guidelines” link at the top of the page, I do not censor. (Oh, and please keep them travel related.)

I have a feeling that some are getting the two areas confused. Heck, even I was for a short time.

I've always understood the difference. But I wonder if you could visually differentiate the two? That may help make things a little more apparent to the user.

What I'm getting at is that both the blog and the forum look a lot like each other. If people are bouncing back and forth between the two, they may associate them together in their mind. If there were a difference in their look, perhaps not.

Don't know how easy that would be to accomplish, but may be worth considering.

I realize there is confusion. On our new platform, it will be different and the page won't be as crowded.

If you go to the subheads above and click on OBOW blog, it will take you to the blog. It shows the latest full posting.. A little hint: All postings in this section are started by me. It's where the Daily Roundup is found. All postings here stay in the order they were posted by me regardless of the responses.

If you go to the top of the left column, and click on "Reader Foum" it will take you to the forum. At the top of this section it says "OBOW Light Travel Forum" and you get a list of recent discussions. You can click on any one to open up that particular discussion. It will always say at the top of the center section "OBOW Light Travel Forum." Whatever discussion has the most recent posting is on top.. Here, anyone can start a posting.

When we move platforms, it will be easier. In addition, the reader forum will have different subject sections.

BTW--right now, you're on the blog.

Can anyone say if I would be able to get away with taking this as a carry-on n US/Canada airlines?

Its linear length is 47 inches (instead of the usual 45 inches), its only 2 inches over the 47 inches.

No one can give you an exact answer because every situation will be different. You might or you might not be able to bring it on board. It all depends on the gate agent, the flight attendants, how many seats were sold and type of aircraft.

However, being a larger bag, I would suggest looking for something smaller. Why start out with something you know is too big. And if they decide to use a sizer, you're going to be paying for a checked bag.

@Help:

You ought to be just fine. I traveled with the predecessor of that Club Glove rolling duffel for years, and never had a problem.

Steve, you are totally right. There is no big difference in blog and forum but we are not able open a new thread in blog.
